Are you the ultimate goalkeeper?
Prove it in the 1st IMG Cup Goalkeeper Wars (GK Wars) during the IMG Cup College Showcase, March 10-11 at the IMG Soccer Academy. A one-on-one, goalkeeper-on-goalkeeper tournament, GK Wars tests goalkeepers on all essential elements, including shot-stopping, footwork, agility and strategy.
Located at IMG Academies in Bradenton, Fla., the IMG Cup will provide professional-quality field and facility services for players and parents. Experienced IMG Soccer Academy goalkeeper coach, Scott Bowers, will be on hand to assist with players and offer helpful tips.
Goalkeepers: Sometimes the showcase games don’t show the potential of a goalkeeper, so what better way to show your talents than with the best GK Wars tournament!? All players will be competitive and age-specific, so play your best over a whole weekend of action.
College Coaches: Between the College Showcases matches and the GK Wars, you will see a ‘keepers display their full set of skills if you are recruiting for your program!
Basic rules: GK Wars is played on a 30 yard x 20 yard field divided in half by a midfield line. A full size goal sits at both ends of the field. Each goalkeeper plays in one half of the field defending their goal, while trying to score on the goal of the opposing goalkeeper.
Attempts on goal may come from a punt, throw, roll, dropkick, or shot from the ground. Just like in a normal game, the goalkeeper must distribute within 6 seconds of receiving the ball and has unlimited steps within his or her half of the field of play.
Games format will be 2 halves of two minutes (2:00), with a one minute (1:00) half time. The player will receive 3 points for a win. The player with the most points at the end of the weekend will be crowned the GK Wars champion!

| Application Entry Fee and Deadline: | The entry fee is $50 per person with a deadline of March 5,(Extened deadline) 2012. All players must register to gain entry into the GK Wars tournament by contacting Adam Gee (adam.gee@imgworld.com) and reserving a spot. Payment is due the day of the competition. IMG Soccer Academy & Tournament Board will review all applications and notify the player of its status as soon as possible. Entry fees are non-refundable. |
| Schedules | If your team is playing in the IMG Cup – College Showcase your GK Wars will be scheduled in the opposite time to your game, allowing you to participate and recover. All college coaches will be provided with the GK Wars schedule and with individuals playing in the games, plus individual profiles. |
| Accepted Players | Goalkeepers attending will not be subject to their team attending IMG Cup – College Showcase. This is an individual attendance tournament. |

Jared Vock is an IMG Soccer Academy Alumni having attended the Academy as a full-time student from 1999-2001, coming from Plymouth, MI. Jared graduated from the Academy in 2001 and received a full-scholarship to the University of South Florida and went on to finish his college eligibility at LeMoyne College. Since arriving at the IMG Soccer Academy as a full-time coach, Jared has worked with players of all ages and abilities; the players he has coach range in age from 12 all the way to the 18 year-old USDA players. Jared started his full-time coaching career at the age of 22 under the tutelage of previous IMG Soccer Director, Tom Durkin.
By any measure of success – from players produced to team success to number of college scholarships earned – the IMG Soccer Academy has proven itself as the nation’s best. Since its inception in 1994, the Academy has continually developed some of the country’s best players while also putting the caliber of teams on the field that can successfully compete in any tournament against any team at any time.
