Freshman Year

IMG Pendleton School studentsMeetings for parents: Fall & Spring Semesters. Information session to preview the College Advising process.

High School/College Seminar: Fall Semester. Academic and extracurricular goal-setting. Facilitated by College Advising and Assistant Headmaster.

SAT Subject Tests for students in Honors Biology, Honors Chemistry, or 300 Level of Foreign Language. SAT Subject Tests are optional for students who have excelled in any of these courses. Scores become a part of the student’s College Board history and will be available for use in college admissions.  A complete guide to taking subject tests is available in the College Counseling office.

Sophomore Year

Meetings for parents: Fall & Spring Semesters. Information session to preview the College Advising process.

PSAT test: Fall Semester. Exam is administered on a school day in mid-October. All sophomores take this examination, which is the portal to National Merit recognition and scholarships. For more information: www.nationalmerit.org

College Admission Seminars during Directed Learning Period

  • First semester: College Counselors & Director of Admissions will give advice about what sophomores can do to enhance their chances of admission.
  • Second semester: two sessions: one is a review of the college admission process while the second session covers Naviance registration.

Junior Year

Parent College Counseling orientation for parents of juniors. A preview and overview of the College Advising process.

Group registration: Instructions for the first recommended SAT I and ACT dates, mid-October for spring testing dates.

College Visits: September through November. Meetings with visiting college representatives held during Directed Learning period.

College Advantage SAT prep class (optional with fee): Prep sessions are held on the IMGA campus two nights per week before the October and March test dates. Dates and registration process announced to students and parents via

Junior College Counseling classes during Directed Learning Period: Seven to nine one-hour classes during the school year, from October through May. Classes cover self-assessment, college searches, college essays, testing, the application process, interviews, and Naviance.

Student one-on-one student meetings with college counselors, February - April. College counselors review the student’s academic profile, testing plans, preliminary college research list, tentative senior course choices, etc.

Bay Area College Fair: St. Petersburg Coliseum. Early October. Open to the community but organized by area independent schools.150-175+ colleges from across the country. Juniors are encouraged to attend, as are parents.

SAT I: Recommended test date is in the spring, usually in March. Test prep provided by College Advantage.

SAT Subject Tests for students in AP courses: May or June test dates. Can take 1, 2, or 3 exams on the same morning. This test is optional but advised for students who have excelled in the course. Scores become a part of a student’s College Board history and will be available for use in college admissions.

Advanced Placement Examinations for students in AP courses: May test dates. This test is required of all IMG Pendleton Students who are enrolled into an AP course. Scores become a part of a student’s College Board history and will be available for use in college admissions.

Senior Year

Senior Seminars during Directed Learning Period: College application instructions: two sessions at the start of the school year; three additional sessions throughout the year related to the transition from high school to college.

College Visits: September through November. Meetings with visiting college representatives held during Directed Learning period.

Student one-on-one meetings with college counselors:  September through December. Review of application plans, shaping the final list of colleges balanced for selectivity, cost, location, etc., fall testing.

NCAA Registration: College Advising staff assist seniors in registering with the NCAA.

SAT Subject Tests: Tests may be necessary for college admissions or placement. Students are encouraged to check the college’s requirements.
