The future ambassadors, leaders, presidents and teachers of the world get their start at IMG Academies, and it’s crucial for the Academy to show them how important it is to protect and preserve the delicacy of planet earth.

We’ve taken numerous steps in recent years to not only provide a good example to our student-athletes, but to make the campus and community an overall healthier place.

  • Solar-powered trams now transport student-athletes, employees and guests to all parts of the IMG Academies 400-acre campus.
  • A state-of-the-art, solar-powered building serves as the home of the IMG Leadbetter Golf Academy
  • Campus-wide recycling program ensures that every office and dorm room features a recycle bin
  • A student-run recycling effort helped set a Guinness World Record for total pounds of plastic bottles set in one day (4,890 pounds)
  • Removal of all Styrofoam plates and cups from the cafeterias

Some Did-You-Knows from the IMG Academies GreenTeam

  • Over the past year, the IMG Leadbetter building’s solar panels have generated 26,819.8 kWh of electricity and have saved 59,406 Ibs of CO2, 129Ibs of NOx, and 236.6Ibs of SO2 from being released into the environment. What does this mean? Over the past year, we have generated enough energy to:
         - Operate a TV for 186,484 hours!
         - Power 206 computers for 1 year!
         - Power 953 homes for 1 day!
  • The Academy goes through 800 tennis ball canisters every month, and just like a plastic soda bottle, tennis ball canisters can be recycled.
  • The Academy is home to a wide variety of wildlife, including birds, turtles, fish and other animals – all of which can be harmed by trash not disposed of correctly
  • U.S. citizens use more than 100 billion plastic shopping bags annually, which harm hundreds of thousands marine animals annually. Reusable woven bags are an excellent replacement for plastic!
