Community Outreach

At IMG Academies, we realize the importance of giving back to those in need. Our students not only excel academically and athletically, they offer their volunteer services whenever possible.

Led by our Community Service Committee, our students work within the community focusing on groups like Big Brothers/Big Sisters by pairing our student-athletes with kids who need mentoring, leadership, and a friend in their lives. Currently we are planning bi-monthly events on-campus here with the local Big Brothers/Big Sisters organization.

Current IMG Academies Community Outreach Initiative:

My name is Atticus DeProspo, and I’m a student-athlete in the IMG Soccer Academy.

My fellow students and I are in the process of raising money to build a school in Udaipur, India for children who have limited opportunities to get an education. Every penny that we raise in conjunction with the Free The Children Organization (www.freethechildren.com) goes to the cause.

As of now, we have raised about $3,858.75, and our goal is $8,500. The next event we have planned is a Dinner Dance along with a silent auction on Sunday, May 2. We are hoping that you might be able to donate some sort of item to auction. Mrs. Karen Moyer, who helped us with fundraising ideas, has pledged to match the $8,500 amount if we can reach our goal. This amount will help build two schools in India!

In the Udaipur district in the northern state of Rajasthan, more than 44% of Indian children under the age of five are malnourished. Approximately, 34% of India’s population lives on less than $1 a day. In addition, only 50% of secondary school-aged girls and 63% of boys in India are enrolled in secondary school.  Approximately 3.6% of the total labor force in India is made up of children under the age of 14.

The one story that has stuck with all of us at IMG Academies is the story about Sohan, who is the inspiration we use to motivate us and push us to accomplish our goal. Sohan is 12 years old and lives in the community of Lai with his parents and nine brothers and sisters.  Although he is still just a child, it was not long ago that Sohan was working in the alcohol business in the Udaipur district along with his younger brother.

We train hard every day here at IMG Academies at the best facilities in the world. We are fortunate to have the best trainers, the best coaches and the best technology made available to us.  But we know that what it really takes to win is teamwork.  In some places like the Udaipur district in India, they are much less fortunate.  In fact, many kids have nothing at all.

Any donations would be greatly appreciated.  Please feel free to contact me by e-mail (adeprospo5@aol.com) with any questions you may have. Please send any auction items or donations to IMG Academies, 5500 34th Street West, Bradenton, FL, 34210, c/o Kerri Grant. Please help us “Be the Change.”

Very Truly Yours,
